Visit our beautiful pub in the South Downs

Stay right in the heart of the South Downs National Park and explore all that it has to offer. This magnificent area of land only gained its official National Park status in 2010, but it’s a mystery to all that it took so long for such an incredible landscape to receive its title.

Enjoy Spotting Some Of Our Fantastic Wildlife

The surrounding countryside is home to an array of wildlife. Be sure to keep an eye out for the many herds of deer roaming around the open fields and woodland on your travels, or glance up and spot the birds of prey circling. The South Downs are also home to a wide variety of species of insects and birds, badgers and much more. With such a varied, brilliant landscape, there is plenty for any wildlife lover to see.

Tackle the trails in a variety of ways.

The South Downs Way is a 100-mile trail which stretches from Winchester in Hampshire to Eastbourne in East Sussex. This incredible trail is one of many which make up the landscape of the South Downs, offering an inspiring place for you to explore. Whether you would prefer to go for a shorter amble, before stopping in one of the local towns and villages for a bite to eat, or are looking to enjoy a longer hike, there’s a trail to suit you. The paths are also perfect for cyclists and even horse riders to enjoy, no matter how laid back a pace you’d prefer.
