We offer a wide range of beers, wines and spirits. Because we are a freehouse, we have no constraints imposed by a brewery and offer real ales – which our locals have a big say in choosing! At the present time we have Youngs (3.7%) and Doombar (4.0%). Our Ales are changed and added to, according to demand. Lagers, Guinness and Cider are also on draught. We have an extensive wine cellar, to compliment the good food served in the restaurant, with our wines being supplied by a local wine merchant and which are reviewed regularly.
We pride ourselves on using fresh local produce, wherever possible, and our menus change regularly to incorporate seasonal availability throughout the year. One of our specialities is fresh fish from the local South coast markets and during the summer this includes lobsters and crab. Whilst in winter, we focus on locally sourced game, such as pheasant, partridge, pigeon and venison. All these are prepared by our head chef, Matt Diaper, who has extensive local knowledge and a passion for creating great dishes from seasonal food. To view our current menu, click here
We have a large restaurant area (which can also be used for private functions) and two cosy areas in the bar area, with log fires in the Winter. In the Summer, our terrace is in full sunlight with relaxing views over the River Rother. We recently added an outside cooking area, and regularly offer BBQs, paellas or a rotisserie with many other culinary delights waiting to be experienced! This area is frequently used for outside parties in the summer & we often have music on a Sunday evening.
